But I dont remember the purpose or the name of this toy. I just remember my sisters and I having a great time messing around with it. Anyone know what this was? Mark June 15, Report this comment Comic Strip light desk tracing toy? The light desk was much smaller than any of the above toys. It must have been part or a game or something. I remember the eyes lighting up though. Aarrrgh, what was this thing? Connie June 17, Report this comment Trying to remember the name of this toy. It was an oval-shaped clear plastic thing that was sort of a flat see-through case and it had blue and white sand in it. You just sort of manipulated it in your hands to make different sand pictures inside the oval. Maybe something by Ohio Art? Bev June 20, Report this comment Im trying to remember the name of these toys i used to love I thought they were nemed Kittles but i guess not. They were tiny people with round heads with either plastic hair of a hat on them and the body was like a plastic cylender that fit into the furnature you bot it or say the car or hourse or wat ever it was sitting in or on. There was a toy that looked like a section of the ground and grass. It was all in plastic. It came with 3 worms or caterpillars. It had a spout on top that when you turned it, the elevator in the middle would rise and one of the worms would pop up out of a little door. I am trying to find that toy. Please advise SusieQ July 01, Report this comment For Bev - your toy was the Magic Window by Wham-O and was my favorite, too! I know he was given to me but I have no other info. Kris July 14, Report this comment Does anyone remember those cool blue sand things; they were a thin in or so oval oval was maybe 8in x 12in when you moved them around the sand would move around inside and create cool "sand art" scenes. It was a plastic dog. I believe it was a pull toy. It had a leash with a plastic dog bone at the end. It had plastic biscuits with ridges that you would put in the mouth and the dog would "eat" them. I have done several searched with no luck! One had a wooden leg which had a treasure map hidden inside. One or both had a button in their side which would move their sword arm. There was a white translucent space age character made of hard plastic but with a soft head. He had a nemesis which was a different colour. They were advertised on tv. Sorry to be so vague! The ad is near the end. NJTitan July 29, Report this comment Does anyone rememember a toy football game from the early 70s where the field was a giant roll out plastic mat? The players were red and yellow plastic and stood about 4 or 5 " tall, the runner was on a wind up base and the defense was on metal dollys. The name of this game has been driving me crazy!! Mandy August 06, Report this comment Can you help? It had all the furniture attatched inside ie. The height of the sides when open was only 3-4" and very compact. It had stickers for the details like the bedspread. Can you help with the name? Little people thats what they were. I remember the commercials use to say "mess up her hair, fix up her hair. Bridge October 17, Report this comment When I was a kid, my aunt had a really neat toy that had 2 long ropes with handles on both ends, one person would pull their ropes a part and send a football shaped ball with the ropes running through it flying towards the other person. I would love to know what this toy was called and get one if I can crazy amy October 20, Report this comment 2 things-NANKIE,i dont know the name of that monkey but i had 2 of them with a banana and vinal sneakers yellow tummy red suspenders. It was a game consisting of a plastic barn with swinging doors on each of 4 sides and a open chimney at the top. You would set up plastic animals outside of each of the doors, then each player on their turn would drop a ball into the chimney. The ball would then randomly come out one of the 4 doors and roll over the plastic farm animals. It had a black plastic base, and clear straight or curved rods about 6" long that you could connect together. You inserted the rods into holes in the base and turned the light on for an almost fiber optic effect. There was also a color wheel you could turn to make your creation shift colors. As for REX, my bro had one. He set it up, and had all my classmates sign it. My 5th grade teacher STILL teaches and STILL uses it-30 years later. Anybody remember the plastic box approx. I think they were called Quicksilver or Slicksilver, not sure. Katie November 23, Report this comment man I hope someone can help. They were out around the same time the weebles were. There were a "fleet" of different ships that could be flown on wires from person to person. The specific one I remember was red, with a canopy that would open, with wheels that would decend or withdrawl. The ship was only about 6 to 8 inches from tip to tail. You pushed down on the top and the top popped up and there were little rooms inside. There were people and an elevator that moved the people up inside the tree if you wanted. Would like to find one if I could. Thanks Kathi Vallade December 16, Report this comment Help! He has 3 outfits. I loved playing with this toy Lisa December 20, Report this comment Does anyone remember Baby matchbox dolls called Baby Pernios? They were so cute collectable, beenie babies all different colours outfits and came in a matchbox sized boxes. I am fro Cornwall so maybe just a crazy Cornish Fad!! They came with a Fold out vinyl Pirate ship. I think they were the "Original" Pirates of the Caribbean. One pirate has brown hair with a mustache a peg leg with a map in it, the other is cooler, with an Asian look, purple velvet vest, bald with a scalp lock, a kind of ponytail and a tatoo on his chest. Can anyone help me with this? Bethany January 06, Report this comment There was a pattern-drawing device that had two big flat plastic plates of odd shapes with grooves in, and a stylus and a pen-holding device with three fat short pens in blue, red, black. Hope someone else can remember it Niff January 14, Report this comment Lily: Was the dog you mentioned this one? I think the object was to toss it into the sky and catch it by the red udder? Does anyone know the name of this toy? It came in a yellow square box and there were 4 different sets of them John January 30, Report this comment Hey, back around or so I had this plant growing type toy that was basically plastic petri dishes with clear gel in them. It came with seeds, I think like watermelon or beans or something. I remember thinking it was really cool but the gel kind of dried up shortly after the seeds sprouted. I guess it was some sort of educational toy. Does anyone remember this or what it was called?? Lisa February 07, Report this comment Yes, John I remember that sooo well. I myself have been searching for it on the internet. No one I know remembers it. A light from the base was directed at the rotating mirrors and it reflected a colorful design onto the inner side of the paper screen. I believe the controls were levels that controlled the mirrors and colors. It was an A-frame lake house. There were two girl dolls, about 4 inches tall, and the cabin had cots, a firepit, a kitchen unit and a motor boat mazinga March 31, Report this comment Cool site. I had a snoopy set and it was so much fun. Does anyone else remember these? I THINK it was called "Klutz"? You attached it to the ceiling. Everyday I would pull it down and it would "Sproing" and bounce up and down and sideways, and make cool high pitched "Sproing" noises. It smelled really awesome, like wood, and clean fur, and nice toy smells. LOL Tanya May 31, Report this comment Mandy, this sounds like the dolls rooms I had as a child, I only had the 2 one was a bedroom which the bed folded out when you opended the case and the other was the living area amd I remember the front door had a battery operated door bell. Richard June 01, Report this comment I am trying to remember the name of a toy I had in the early 70s no later than It was a stock car about a foot long, maybe? Did the "tool" spin plastic rivets that melted and held the car together? The plastic was blue, and the detailed parts of the car were printed panels that snapped in. Globelike, maybe 8" diameter. It had actual nuts and bolts. I believe it was red with lots of sponsor decals. My sisters and I all remember this and could never come up with the name Mary M June 13, Report this comment I remember a toy. It was a game with a big game board. You contructed a haunted house on the board. There was a scary plastic witch figure with a broom at the top of a staircase and another you could see in a window. And if you did something wrong, the witch would sweep with a broom a big silver ball bearing down the staircase and the bearing would knock your game pieces off the board. Was it called "Which Witch"? Kathy J June 27, Report this comment I had this little 6 wheeled car that you could ride in and it was made of plastic. Does anyone else remember this toy or have a picture of it? At least that is how I remember it!! It was almost like a "magnadoodle", but it was a mans face and you would use a fake pen and you could move these stringy magnets and give the guy hair, moustache, eye brows help! T-Bone was the name or Tee-Bone. I loved that dog anyone know it? I think it might have been "Quick Curl Barbie"? I am often reminded of her whenever I have a bad hair day-lol Murkala July 28, Report this comment Looking for the name of a series of toy trucks that steered when you tilted them to the side. They were the size of Tonka maybe made by Tonka but had unique almost unrealistic shapes, with tall cab areas. Mine was a red metal firetruck with plastic white ladders on each side. The axles were held in a loose slot, so that when the vehicle was leaned to the left the two left wheels moved closer together, and the right wheels moved apart roy August 20, Report this comment Looking for the name of a set of small foam rubber airplanes that you could launch with a slingshot type device. It is driving me insane! The tools were not very technical in nature, actually quite unrealistic considering the size of the animals inches. A bandage, a needle and a stethoscope come to mind. Any information would be greatly appreciated! It had a screen and records. You put on the record and a song with pictures would appear on the screen. One of the songs was about rose colored spectacles. Any info would be greatly appreciates. Is starting to drive me crazy. Thanks SZA October 08, Report this comment When I was young, my grandmother had a wonderful toy at her house my sisters and I loved to play with. It was a plastic post office, complete with handheld truck and little colored plastic "envelopes". You would load the envelopes in the back of the mailtruck, back the truck into a special slot on the building and the letters would "magically" unload into a mailbox. Does anyone remember something like this? It had a triceratops head, and a spiky shell. It also had 6 or 8 legs, and it walked. It came with a flashlight that you could shine into a rectangle sensor maybe? Any help would be appreciated! Jody October 24, Report this comment I am looking for a toy for my husband who was born is When he was a small child he had a ride on toy that was orange and had six wheels. That is all I know and I would love any bit of information anyone could provide. It consisted of a hard plastic track with these little cars that had a tinted blue window in front to conceal the battery. On top of the "buggy" was a "V" that was parallel to the top of the car. The cars would pass through these see-through clear plastic domes. On the top of each dome there was wheel you could turn that would lower a "bolt", for lack of a better word, that would either catch on the V part of the car or let it pass. It is difficult to describe. Does anyone know this toy? It was a clear plastic man that when you pumped a ball on his hand it would show blook pumping through his veins. It showed his heart and lungs too I think. I think it had eyes. Instead of a remote control it had a flashlight and the car would follow the flash light beam of light. The commercials showed a red car going under a table in a "dark kithcen" I never owned it but wanted it sooo bad. Mom said it was too expensive. I held it in my hand at the toy store. ANYWAY does anyone know this toy? Angie November 07, Report this comment Erin November 14, Report this comment I just got back from a garage sale. He has a red heart on his chest, and when you squeeze his paw, the heart lights up and he records a few seconds of audio and then plays it back to you. Any tips on how I might repair the bear so it works would be GREAT, as well. The first was a plastic toy that had an oak tree as the background and there were animals in different spots on the tree with holes behind them. You had to push a button with each animal represented squirrel, bird, rabbit, etc. Almost a preschool version of a pinball game. For very young kids I had it around so I was 4 or 5 at the time. I remember it was plastic yellow and stood up right with the animal buttons along the bottom. The other toy was nothing but little tubular shaped styrofoam cylindars that you pinched between your fingers until they popped out. Mark November 24, Report this comment Does anyone ever get an answer on here? You pedaled it with your hands and each side of the pedaling is independent and you could spin it around etc AD November 30, Report this comment does anyone remember a toy that I believe was called, "Monkey See, Monkey Do" -- or it was the catch phrase for the product? It was a piece of plastic that was shaped like a monkey; it was brown, and had a pointer in one hand, and a slot for a pen or pencil in the other. You would trace over a picture with the pointer, and at the same time it would draw that image with the pen or pencil that was in the other hand. Does that even sound right? I hope everyone who is searching for the name of their favorite memories is successful! I have three nameless obsessions. Number one, and top of the list is a series of Matchbox-sized toy cars from the mid-70s, but very unique because each one was an exaggerated human figure with wheels attached. One was in a sitting position, another was on hands and knees. They were all racers or hot rods. Turn it on, let it go and the thing would roll forward until it ran into something. No doubt a dull concept in the age of Wii, but it really got me curious about how things work The last one, I think was called Time Bomb. This was a sort of a hot potato game that featured a round, black, plastic "bomb" with a yellow top and fuse. It was a mix and you poured it into a mold and after it was cast you could paint it. They were not really trolls, but almost like goofy monsters or creepy creatures Jimmattcait December 14, Report this comment Ken and Steve I have been trying like mad to find out the name of the same toy. I thought it was called Omni or something like that. I remember having it, but only being able to touch it if mom or dad were there Sonnemarie December 14, Report this comment Mark and Jody -- I am also looking for info on this ride-on toy, but mine was white with black wheels. Kath December 22, Report this comment Does anybody remember something that I recall as "Wacky Waters? We recently saw the pics during a viewing of the old slides. Now they know I was not making this up!! He had a bald head except for a curl of red hair on his forehead. You could take the face of it off and inside were the plastic working parts. They came with poles used of small hills behind a house. What kind of 6-yr-old gets excited about pushing a bean into plastic gel and then waiting a week while nothing happens? It had "add-ons" for various ages of the infant Geri January 30, Report this comment Does anyone remember a line of dolls that were maybe " tall, had soft bodies with wires in the so they would bend, large eyes and came dressed in different career outfits? The targets were from clear talp strips that would be inserted into the gun. The gun would either poke or burn a hole in the tape, which in turn would look like a bullet hole in the image projected onto the wall. Does anyone have any information on this toy? It is driving me crazy julie y February 18, Report this comment Hi there. The only thing I remember is that you could wind a dial in the front of the clock and it played a really simple song and the hands moved with the music. I thought it was called the Tick Tock Clock. The other toy was a marble tower that kept me busy for hours. There were about 5 bops 6 levels. There was either 1 or a few marbles that you had to try to get to the bottom level by either turning a wheel with a hole in it and the marble would drop, and the next level would be a cylinder with another hole that would drop the marble to the next level, and so on. I would like to know if any of them still exist or if anyone knows what they are called K-Rock March 01, Report this comment Hi! This toy was a build-as-you go man in a plastic hammock that you would stack things I think sandwich makings on top of his belly until it spilled? It was a plastic blue square with little metal stands to hold it standing up and you would put a picture you wanted to trace on one side and a blank paper on the other side and when you looked through the stand up blue divider you could see the picture on the blank page and you could trace it. I would love to get one for my daughter. They came after the Thing Maker which was such a dangerous toy! Hot metal plates making rubber bugs, etc. I had a doll when I was younger like the monkey see, monkey do that was called Peggy Pen Pal; she was my favorite Dakota March 03, Report this comment The name of the plaster mold toys was Shaker Makers! It came to me last night! Remember the Frito Bandito eraser tops that you attached to your pencil--they came free in every multiple lunch pak? Does anyone from the Midwest remember 45 records given away in boxes of Lays Potato Chips? VR March 16, Report this comment Hi, does anyone remember this toy that was a piece of paper with a scene printed on it and with the scene you received a separate waxy sheet of pictures to add into the scene? One was an underwater scene and on the seprate sheet were little pictures of divers, fish, treasure, etc. They were like stickers in a way but you had to apply them to the scene by positioning the little picture where you wanted it on the scene and scratching the back of the wax paper that they were affixed to to make them stick to the scene. I found it at the Fisher Price vintage website. It is called the Tumble Tower. That is so awesome. Now I am happy. It was a black box with three different colored doors. When you walked on these cups they would make a "clop clop" sound? Each person chose a metallic colored worm. You would put your worm onto the pole and turn the game on. The winner would be dependent on whose worm hung on the longest shelly April 05, Report this comment for VR: the wax paper scene creator was called Presto Magix for Mollyanne: it was the Crissy doll with the adjustable hair VR April 05, Report this comment for Kat: the first toy is Romper Stompers. Those things were awesome. I remember it well though, did you ever find it? Rosie April 16, Report this comment Does anybody remember those colored plastic rings that were sold by the package all different colors that you linked together to make bracelets, necklaces, belts, etc? They had a split something like on a key ring that you opened to insert the next ring and slide it around to link them together. They were all the same size. I need to find out what they were called! Thank you to anyone who can help! Kevin April 20, Report this comment I may be merging memories here, but I had a play set, either late 70s or early 80s. I think the mat had a hedge maze printed on it? Again, I may be mixing two different play sets together. Can someone help me out with a name for this? On the same lines as a slip n slide. I remember having one after my Big Wheel Gary May 26, Report this comment This is cross posted from the inthe80s board Please help I remember playing as a child with a construction toy designed in military green plastic the idea was to build tanks or miltary vehicles that could then be broke down and rebuilt in a different way, I think that the panels had 4 lugs on on each corner to clip to beams of some sort. I ve asked my dad and he thinks it was bought for me around and that it was a foreign brand not a Uk or Usa brand Darryl M June 08, Report this comment Mark Cullison, I rhave been trying to remember the name of that toy also. It was a yellow diving bell. The surface of the maze would repel the water and make it bead up and flow like mercury. Octogon shaped, and flat like a thin compact. It contained a heat sensitive color changing fluid and when you pressed or rubbed on the back the front clear plastic allowed you to see the color changes. Think mood ring type color changes. I was at the Exploratorium recently and they had an exhibit much like this item and my children loved it. I remember playing with the color changes for hours on end. I want to say it was called a widget but I have searched with no luck. In the early s I had a beloved toy that consisted of some small square mirrors and some books of intricate drawings. When you put the mirror down on the page upright, perpendicular to the drawing, if it was in the right place, the reflection would reveal an image that was hidden by being only half-drawn. As you moved a mirror around on the pages, many different hidden images were revealed. I spent hours with this, but lost it along the way and have no idea what it was called. Sound familiar to anyone? Thanks Lori July 09, Report this comment Did anyone ever hear of a toy that we had that was blue and red styrofoam that stuck together to make things? Anyone remember the name or where I might find one??? Additionally their legs just moved forward and back. They were dressed as grocery clerks, one with a red haired head and the other with black hair and a mustache. I think there was a set of a grocery store you could be separately. I loved that thing, would spin myself dizzy! As Jay said, it came in a blue plastic case shaped like an ambulance, with "vet" instruments and a few animals. Funny I was just trying to find the colored rings myself. I have mine from when I was young and would love to find some more for my grandchildren. It went around an oval track, up a small lift hill lifted by the axlesback down the hill I think it did a flip on the way downaround the track where it turned onto its side from a ramp in the track and back around the track in a continuous loop. I was hoping to fingd it here. My brother and I used to play with it for hours with the room lighhts off. It evoked a certasin "mood" that I still remember well. I hope someone else remembers it. Thanks for mentioning the color wheel that you could turn. I had forgotten about that Sharlene November 16, Report this comment I was wondering if anyone can help me remember the name of a doll. It had long white hair and came with, I think, four "markers", red, black, blonde and brown, that you could color her hair with. It washed out with plain water. Then when you were done playing it would fold up into a little plastic case with a handle. I remember playing with it all the time. It was A orange plastic square that had handles like that of a bike or motorcycle red I think on either side. The object of the game was to manuever a motorcycle or something back and forth thur a maze of obstacals, Rocks, trees, catcus, not sure really. If you hit them they would fall down. But you would hold on to the handles and drive thur the course by moving the board back and forth. So much fun I had with it. Just no one remembers this toy. MoonPuppy April 10, Report this comment This toy was created, I believe to drive parents nuts, lol. It was a clear plastic cube that had solid shelves in it. Each shelf almost reached the opposite wall. It was filled with tiny ball bearings. The whole point of it was to roll the ball bearings from the top to the bottom. Then turn it over and do it again. There was no maze. There were no holes to filter the balls. Extending upward are eight pins or pegs which move either in or out along radial slots in the top of the base. The object of the game is to get all of the pins inward to the center, and their movement is subject to a binary pattern or code. I think it was called "The Brain", but a search for a toy of that name is rather cumbersome. Thank you tara April 19, Report this comment hi, just wondering if anyone can help me out i had a toy dog when i was a kid, it had a hard plastic head that glowed in the dark with a soft body. The toy itself was a little battery-operated plastic "moon car"; orange body and with blue tinted windows. It appeared in a dream okay it was a nightmare! I want to say it was called "moon patrol" or "moon buggy". I believe this toy is from the late 60s to very early 70s as I could have not been more than 5 years old. This thing was called a "Green Machine" and I was a TERROR on that thing! I hope this helps someone out there! But incase someone is looking for it, I found it!! Sure, like the "Wild Rider", mine had 6 black plastic wheels on a low white plastic body with hand cranks inside, but it had a molded seat, painted black the paint would chip off and had a central hub area between your legs, that the "Wild Rider" did not have. Mine had a much more substantial body frame, with wider side panels and looked more like a moon buggy than the "Wild Rider", which just seems to look like a shallow bucket with 6 wheels. If ANYONE knows of a different version of the "Wild Rider" or something like it, please let us all know. The characters would fit into holes in the bottom of each building, one I particularly remember is a teacher, another a postman. It was a carry around one so you could close the front, and simply flip it open to play. The flip open bit became the front grassed area A red fabric doll, except its hands and face were plastic. Jen August 26, Report this comment Trying to remember a game. It came with a hard molded square basin that had relief detail like a treasure chest. The first was an electric shooting gallery tabletop game. It was fairly large, maybe two feet long and a foot wide. It was mostly made out of red plastic, but I believe the front was brown to simulate wood. The front was styled to look like the dashboard of an old plane, with a starter knob, score dial and a back machine gun mounted on top. The gun was the type that had a round, horizontal magazine on top. The magazine cover came off so that you could replace the light bulb, which was the same as used in most 2-D cell flashlights. The rear of the unit was like an amphitheatre with a cardboard backdrop painted to look like the sky. When you pulled the starter knob, it would reset the score dial and then an image of a biplane would be projected onto the backdrop. It would move by means of a motorized mirror mounted in the back of the dashboard. As there were no electronics to speak of, I believe it detected the hits by comparing the positions of the gun and mirror. It might have had the word "Ace" in the title. There was a control panel base and a complex series of fishing lines that had to be properly strung. The helicopter itself was a non-motorized, white plastic Sikorsky Skycrane. When the toy was turned on, you could make the copter fly forward or back on the lines, and both lower and raise it. It came with a boxy crew carrier module and some cargo pieces that you could make it pick up. Note that this was definitely NOT a Vertibird. The passenger exits the elevator at the top of the tower and rolled down and around to await the helicopter. The helicopter picked up the passenger circled the building once and then a flag pole triggered the seat of the helicopter to open, dropping the passenger to slide down to the train stop, the train would then circle around pick up the passenger and the whole process would repeat itself again. This blue box had a gear shift lever that I used to rev up the car and release it. It also had buttons that made car sounds. I played with this car for hours. Instead, there was a battery operated tower with a gear shift. You put the car on a small downward facing ramp, and a gear type of mechanism stuck out from the tower into the hub of the car. You would get a hard scene and then you would need to use a pencil and rub the sticker onto the scene using the pencil to remove the sticker to the scene. I have looked everywhere, no luck. It was a flat robot that you held in your hand and had buttons on it like a calculator and just a little display screen like a calculator, but you could play maths games as well. It was probably about 15cm x 10cm and about 3cm thick. Tara, if you are still out there, get a hold of me, as I recently found a set on ebay and have some extra trains now!! Thanks for the memory! Ordinary rocks, obtained from a quarry, were tumbled and cut to resemble those actually obtained by NASA in The rocks were then dyed and treated to grow, though slightly, into stalagmites. Anyway, each person drew a card with approximately a grid of 16 squares. On the card would be a pattern they had to replicate using red and white cubes. Mattel voluntarily discontinued production and sales of these, fearing lawsuits, after parents complained of their kids either getting burned, ingesting hot candies out of toy, or ingesting small parts. There may also have been FDA issues regarding Incredible Edibles. It was a car that did not have body. Scroll down to the picture post on Aug. Rules say no links so go to Facebook and do a search for Austin and Ally Portugal Auslly. Mattel first introduced Thingmaker inwith non-edible gel and molds, done in series, called Creepy Crawlers and Creeple Peeple. Incredible Edibles were introduced inusing heavily-sugared liquid gel. If anyone has any idea of who made these stuffed animals or the name of the set, I would be so grateful. Thank you so very much.!!! It had questions on multiple, heavy cardstock pieces of paper that I vaguely remember as being square-shaped. There would be questions on left side like 2 apples appleswith 3 possible answers to the question on the right side--with corresponding holes that fit over holes in the special tray the sheet went in. A separate plastic guy or possibly clown that had a straw-shaped cylinder pole attached at his bottom that was a few inches long would tell you if you had the right answer once you put the pole thing in the right hole in the cardboard card. I just know something turned green for correct and red for incorrect. I loved it because I could play school and create my own cards once I figured out how to make the holes match the bottom tray such the that right answer would align. Just curious if anybody knows what that toy was called? Lil October 28, Report this comment I had a toy in the 70s or early 80s that was a sort of rotating cube on a pedestal.
